Saturday, December 11
Adaptive Birding Trip – Wetland Birds and Blackbird Roosting with Georgia Audubon
Join Georgia Audubon for an Adaptive Field Trip  cohosted with the Newman Wetlands Center! We will take a tour of the treatment wetlands at Clayton County Water Authority, and witness hundreds of thousands of blackbirds coming in to roost!

Saturday, December 11
Cleanup with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) in partnership with Heritage Valley and Briar Glen Neighborhoods
This land-based cleanup will further efforts towards a Trash-Free Chattahoochee. This year, CRK has already removed over 62 TONS of trash from our watershed.

Saturday, December 18
Build a Rain Garden in East Atlanta with Trees Atlanta
Help prepare a rain garden site at a home in East Atlanta by excavating the site with shovels, building a soil berm, and backfilling with compost. This is the first step in preparing a rain garden that will eventually be planted with native wetland plants.

Tuesday, December 21
Winter Solstice Hike at Raven Cliffs with Georgia ForestWatch
Celebrate the winter solstice by visiting the dramatic Raven Cliffs Falls. This is a fairly easy hike along an old logging road. We will pass a couple smaller falls before reaching Raven Cliffs where we will stop for lunch before turning back.

Live Animal Showcases at Elachee Nature Science Center
Meet Elachee resident animals as part of an exploration of our Live Animal Exhibit, guided by an Elachee Naturalist.

Saturday, January 1
New Year’s Day Hike at Elachee Nature Science Center
A guided hike of the Bridge Loop, 3 miles, recommended for participants 8 years old and older. This trail is a moderate-difficulty loop that crosses through diverse Piedmont forest types with five bridged stream crossings, including the 140-ft. suspension bridge.
