Cox Enterprises, Environmental Champion
This month we spotlight Cox Enterprises – a long-standing EarthShare Georgia Corporate Sustainer and Earth Day sponsor – as an environmental champion for their environmental stewardship. This is embedded deep within their culture and a beacon to environmental organizations that they support across Georgia.
“At Cox Enterprises, driving positive environmental change — inside our company and within the communities we serve — is one of the most important things we do. EarthShare of Georgia connects us with trusted nonprofits who are doing the important work of protecting our planet. Our people are able to support these organizations through our annual giving campaign and volunteer projects. This partnership is one of the ways we empower people today to build a better future for the next generation,” said Tyrene Hodge, Senior Manager, CSR Environmental Sustainability, Cox Enterprises, Inc.
Aligned with EarthShare Georgia since 2006 through their workplace giving campaign and as an Earth Day sponsor since 2007, Cox Enterprises has raised almost $1 million in support of our member group organizations. These critical funds are direct support of organizations working hard every day to address environmental health risks, restore natural habitats, protect wildlife, reduce global warming, and much more.
In November, Atlanta Magazine named them in theirGroundbreakers 2019: 13 visionaries working for a greener Georgia. “Cox Conserves was launched as a company-wide environmental-sustainability program in 2007 with two main goals: send zero waste to landfills by 2024, and be carbon- and water-neutral by 2044. Twelve years on, the company is already 70 percent of the way toward meeting its zero-waste goal.”
Cox announced recently that their Central Park buildings A and B received a zero waste to landfill designation. These buildings have achieved a 90% waste diversion rate.
As a proud partner with Cox Enterprises, we’d like to say congratulations and thank you for your commitment to our environment.
