Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable-Southface

7:30 - 9:00am
(Doors Open at 7:00am for Networking)
July 9th
Georgia's Water Wars

Three million residents in metro Atlanta rely on Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River as their source of drinking water. However, this critical resource has been significantly impacted by rapid development, population growth, recent droughts and the Tri-State Water Wars. The fate of water quantity, quality and planning in the region will depend on the outcome of decades-long litigation and court rulings. Come hear from Georgia leaders about the legal, environmental and economic impacts of the ongoing water conflict.

Speakers include:
Katie Kirkpatrick, Metro Atlanta Chamber
Nels Peterson, Executive Counsel to Governor Perdue
Gil Rogers, Southern Environmental Law Center
Moderator - Will Wingate, the Georgia Conservancy

The Roundtable is a volunteer effort of the following nonprofit groups and professional associations:
AIA-Atlanta Committee on the Environment
American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia
ASLA - Georgia Chapter
Atlanta Regional Commission
Clean Air Campaign
Georgia Conservancy
Georgia Planning Association
Southface
Urban Land Institute - Atlanta
U.S. Green Building Council - Atlanta Chapter
