The Eleventh Annual Earth Day 2013 Leadership Breakfast was held on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 8:00-10:00 am, at the Oceans Ballroom, The Georgia Aquarium. The 2013 keynote speaker was Bruce Karas, Vice President of Environment and Sustainability for The Coca-Cola Company.  The program included the presentation of EarthShare of Georgia’s annual Earth Day awards to honor and recognize EarthShare of Georgia’s 2013 outstanding community partner, campaign champion, member organization and the winning Corporate Green Day Challenge company green team. 

  2013 keynote speaker: Mr. Karas is the Vice President of Environment & Sustainability for Coca-Cola Refreshments.   He has over 25 years of experience as an EHS professional  and has practiced in a wide range of Industrial operations in the United States, Canada and China. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist in Comprehensive Practice, aCertified Safety Professional and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist in Canada.

This year, EarthShare of Georgia presented Leap Communications with the 2013 Outstanding Community Partner award for their generous donation of pro-bono graphic and print design services since 2011 to EarthShare of Georgia, Cox Enterprises with the 2013 Campaign Champion Award for their strong employee-giving campaign that grew by 21% from 2011 to 2012, Trees Atlanta with the 2013 Outstanding Member Group of the Year award for exceeding their annual requirements in all areas as a member group of EarthShare of Georgia, and  EarthShare of Georgia’s 20^thanniversary Community Leadership Award was presented to our presenting sponsor Kaiser Permanente in honor of 10 years of partnership with EarthShare of Georgia.

The 2013 Corporate Green Day Challenge award was presented to Bank of America. For areas of improvement on their evaluation form, Bill Lide, the project supervisor simply put “I can’t really say that anything could have been done better. I guess if they had brought us breakfast and tickets to the final four,but that is pushing it.”
